Our babysitting rates
There are two separate payments: a booking fee to the Agency, and the babysitting fee to your babysitter.
How our service works
Butterfly Babysitting Agency provides a booking and referral service. We help families connect with suitable independent babysitters. Your babysitter provides the babysitting directly to your family, and you pay them directly for it. Our separate booking fee covers arranging the introduction, matching a babysitter to your family's needs and coordinating the booking.

- It confirms your booking. Your booking isn't confirmed until we receive it.
- Refunds
- The booking fee is non-refundable. If we have to cancel, a refund may be given depending on the circumstances.

$35 per hour

- At the end of the job (or at the end of each day for multi-day bookings)

- By cash or bank transfer. Each babysitter chooses which they accept, and Heidi confirms it when your booking is confirmed.

- Your babysitter keeps the full hourly rate.
For example
A 4-hour evening: $40 booking fee + $140 to your babysitter
You pay the $40 booking fee to the Agency when your booking is confirmed. At the end of the evening you pay your babysitter $140 (4 hours × $35).

- Some locations may incur transport and/or parking fees. We'll let you know when you book.
- Late cancellation (less than 24 hours' notice)
- $50, paid to the Agency and passed on in full to your babysitter. The booking fee is not refunded.
Repeat family reward
Every 6th booking your family makes in the same calendar year (January to December) has no booking fee. That's your 6th, 12th, 18th booking and so on.

Step 3: Confirm with the $40 booking fee
Pay it by bank transfer once everything is agreed. Your booking is confirmed once the fee is in our account.

Step 4: Enjoy your time out
Pay your babysitter at the end of the job, by cash or bank transfer ($35 an hour, 3‑hour minimum).
We'll never ask for the booking fee until you've approved all the details.

- Two reference checks
- A Working With Vulnerable People check Required under Tasmanian Government legislation.

Quick answers
Is there a minimum booking length?
You may book a babysitter for any length of time you want. However, the minimum fee is for 3 hours. For example, if you only need the babysitter for 2 hours, you will still need to pay them for 3 hours.
How much notice do you need for a booking?
All bookings are based on babysitter availability. While we can sometimes provide a babysitter at short notice, it is not guaranteed. The more notice you give us, the more chance we will have someone available for your job.
Can a babysitter come to my hotel or holiday rental, not just a private home?
Yes, our babysitters work in hotel rooms and other holiday accommodation, as well as private homes.
Can I request the same babysitter again?
Yes. We get excited when you let us know you've had an excellent experience and want to have the same babysitter again. Where possible, we will try to book the babysitter you request, but there are no guarantees.
